BREASTFEEDING: Foundation of Life

The theme for 2018 World Breastfeeding Week (WBW) has been announced - Breastfeeding: Foundation of Life. ILCA is partnering with organizations around the globe - including United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF), World Health Organization (WHO), International Baby Food Action Network (IBFAN), La Leche League International (LLLI), The Academy of Breastfeeding Medicine (ABM), Wellstart International, the Global Goals, and the World Alliance for Breastfeeding Action (WABA) - to promote the role that breastfeeding plays in valuing our wellbeing. Nevertheless, *Arewa Youth Trust Foundation* in conjunction will breastfeeding women within Zaria metropolis also Celebrated the world breastfeeding week to create awareness among women that breastfeeding is the foundation of life for children. The Foundation #AYTF thrives to keep awareness among women about the following points by the world Health Organization (WHO)
Breastfeeding is about the special bond of love and care between a mother and her baby.

Breast milk is the natural shield a mother provides to protect her baby from various illnesses during the precious first years after the baby’s birth.

Early commencement of breastfeeding can protect the child from various life-threatening diseases like jaundice and diabetes and is beneficial for the child’s brain development and learning abilities.

BreastFeeding mothers should exclusively breastfeed their newborns for at least the first six months. In fact, it can be continued for up to two years and supplemented with solid foods.
