THE BUHARISTS, BUHARIDEENS,ATIKULATED AND ATIKUDOLLAS AND THE DECEPTIVE NATURE OF NIGERIAN POLITICS. -SADEEQ NASEER
It’s been a while since I compose a political article, been busy for some time but still keeping a vigil with the political hullabaloo in the country, just thinking of what to write before these four words come into my mind Buharist, Buharideen, Atikulated and Atikudollas. The political terrain is set for the 2019 general elections, there is no any other perfect time to wake up my Pen from recess than now. “Yes” it is a turbulent time, the nation political gladiators are busy playing their Cards, the political game of chess is getting more interesting, unexpected political alignment and realignment are happening, astonishing indeed, people like Former president Olusegun Obasanjo a sworn adversary to Atiku is now fully ATIKULATED, for Obasanjo, Atiku is no longer who he described in his famous autobiography “MY WATCH’’ and I quote " What I did not know, which came out glaringly later, was his parental background which was somewhat shadowy, his propensity to corruption, his tendency to disloyalty, his inability to say and stick to the truth all the time ,a propensity for poor judgment, his belief and reliance on marabouts , his lack of transparency, his trust in money to buy his way out on all issues and his readiness to sacrifice morality, integrity, propriety truth and national interest for self and selfish interest" Olusegun Obasanjo MY WATCH Volume 2 Pages 31- 32.
Oh! really implausible. I don’t know how he will expunge this and many more from his book, or was it that ‘MY WATCH’ was just a prosy, to say the least it may be Baba’s political Calculations ‘FANTASTIC’’ What a new found love?. Some people who nearly set the country on fire after the 2015 general elections just because they don’t want a Hausa/Fulani man and even going further to support people calling for the countries disentagration have now make a U- turn to support another Fulani, Hypocritical indeed.
Interesting as it may seems, the trending social media battle between the BUHARIDEENS and ATIKDOLLAS is even getting more interesting only that it lacks objectivity and is fully influenced by irrational emotions and prejudice, at this point let me define the words at the essence of my write up.
A BUHARIST is who support president Muhammadu Buhari base on rational thinking, reason and principle. An ATIKLATED is a tranquil reasonable supporter of Atiku Abubakar. Going “far right’’ are the BUHARIDEENS and the ATIKDOLLAS, don’t pray to come across a Buharideen during electioneering period, they are the the zealous, fervent ,unreasonable and blind supporters of PMB with the strong believe that all what PMB does is correct( his integrity makes him to never err) you can’t have a constructive conversation with them, they have violent tendencies and even often clash with some BUHARISTS.
There is a surge of youth into the fold of Atiku Campaign immediately after the PDP Presidential primaries this was as a result of Atiku spending power that has send a potent shiver all across the country, it has made many youth to move towards Atiku impetuously, all that they care about is just the money ‘The Atiku Dollar influence’’ a topic for another day, these people don’t have any focus or reflection, thoughtfulness is the last thing you expect from them ,they are the ATIKUDOLLAS . Most of them have the believe that at any point when they meet Atiku there long awaited Prayers for riches is answered . Surely most of them disappointment will be there Companion.
Normally in this kind of electioneering period, the truth is buried under the storm and hurricane of Money and advitisement, trivial things become big distractions,Obscene become order the day, it takes a high moral tenet for decency to thrive.
Not too long into the present administration that the president avow that he nearly absconded when he saw the level of damage and destruction done to this country, one may say that after contesting for president for three times and getting elected at the fourth shot the president has come onboard unprepared to face that kind of challenge, Does he even has an excuse?, the Captain must fly the plane. The APC Campaign has successfully run down PDP and made people to believe they have the solution to the economy, security, health, education in just four years, here we are four years is almost gone, but the major challenges still remains, some of the major challenges just change in forms and shapes, but we can’t just write them up without acknowledging that the administration has made some strides as there is no any administration that can be all bad or all good, but to be irrefutably successful the performance must be far above average, real and achievable developmental plans and policies must be drafted and made people to believe in them and the best way to make people believe in your policies is to always meet your goals, when targets are set they should be meet not empty promises and game of deceit or a blame game i.e blaming pass administration that won’t yield any positive result. it is good to learn lessons from the mistakes of the past so that you don’t repeat them.
In most government in the past the main source of their problems is from the assessment report they got from their agencies and parastatals they always told the government what they want to hear not the statement of facts as it happens during the last administration , making them to believe that all is well and even boasting of been the largest economy in Africa while in real sense it those not reflect on the Nigerian masses.
There is no way any two people can agree all the times, so how should we expect a country with large population different ethnicity culture and religion to agree frequently, “ It will never happen. Although, “a lot can happen between now and never”. That is the essence of compromise in a democracy, there is no democracy that works without compromise.
It is regrettable that in times like this the only truth that matters to us is when it is against our political alignment but when it is in alignment to our political choice it is brazenly and hypocritically open to debate and interpretations, this was as a result that people are made of ambitions which usually become toxic and lethal when unchecked. These unchecked ambitions lead most people at the corridors of power to do impertinent things. Impudently sabotaging their principal and the nation in general doing malodorous conduct at the detriment of the people and nation.
It is important to note that in a democracy which ever way the power swing to after elections it is of high importance to support the government positive and developmental efforts, any sabotage of a positive Government effort is a debt that must be pay in full by all ( the nation). And on the course of our political struggle we should always remember that whatever we think or do we don’t have any country better than Nigeria.
